Lotus Flower

A Lotus grows up from the mud into a beautiful blossom. It is a symbol of peace and of new beginnings.

I have used the Lotus Flower as a symbol in my classrooms for many years to show children that humble beginnings do not mean you can not create beauty in the world. Every child has much to offer.

Ms. Jolene taught me to love art. My favorite artist Ms. Jolene taught me about was Pablo Picasso. I loved when she let us paint with “Pablo Picasso colors,” like red, blue and yellow. Since I was small, I have drawn the sunsets I see outside of my window each day. But now, I use art to express my feelings, sometimes happy, but especially when I feel sad or angry. Expressing my negative emotions through art this way makes something beautiful --  instead of something that is ugly or hurtful.

  • Avery, age 7

Jolene is truly one of the most gifted teachers I’ve ever known. She is passionate about the importance of creativity for children and its role in raising creative, innovative leaders in our world. I’ve never known a teacher who spends so many of her free hours reading education research. Yet, Jolene’s implementation of this knowledge she holds is truly artful. My child blossomed in so many ways in her care and I cannot recommend her more highly.

is Montessori teacher with eleven years experience in the classroom. she began creating her own curriculum as an intern and refined it over the years of teaching early childhood students.  She has extensive experience in private and public Montessori classrooms.

Other accomplishments include presenting at the American Montessori Society National Conferences three times with her curriculum.

She is certified by the state of Texas and American Montessori Society.

Ms. Jolene is one of the best Early Childhood Educators I have had to pleasure to meet.  My three year old son was delayed in speech and was lacking the social skills of his peers when he entered her class.

Jolene has an amazing understanding of how to relate to children and how to facilitate their cognitive growth and development. She engages her students on many levels from art to science. Jolene's impressive organization, compassion, and sense of humor compliments her natural ability to influence results.

Our son, now six, has completely caught up to his peers and is currently on track to enter first grade. I would highly recommend Jolene to any parent seeking an educator.
